In this icon, Mother of God of Vladimir, or Vladimirskaya, Christ sits on his mother's right arm and presses his cheek against hers. He has his left hand wrapped around her neck and holds her robe with his other hand.

Expectantly, he looks up at his mother, who holds him lovingly against her. She looks over her son in thought and is fully aware of the suffering that awaits him.

Characteristics of the Vladimirskaja are the bare feet of the child. The icon belongs to the so-called Umilenine or Eleousa type, where the emphasis is on Christ's human nature.

A moving icon.

"We love finding old pulleys. They make great decorative pieces and are also a great addition to lighting decor. This one is a double pulley made of wood and iron, and it does have some wear. There is rust, scratches, and a crack across the piece, but it is still solid."
